First of all we have some rain moving in tomorrow (Monday) for most of the state (plus snow in the mountains)...after that, some pretty big changes.

I am not a lawn expert but I've been told the more you can stress your lawn in the Spring the better it will do in the summer.  Well, after Monday this week looks pretty "stressful" for lawns.  By next weekend it will feel like Summer.  If you haven't fired up those sprinklers yet (like me) this is probably a good week to get them going.  Monday's rain should get us through mid week but you may need sprinklers by next weekend.

Also, the rivers will start running high and fast this week...be careful if you're going to be near water.  Enjoy the warmth (we start warming up around Wednesday/Thursday).

Brett, you mentioned high waters. Can flooding be expected? Are there specific rivers or drainages that are at high risk for floods?

I think we'll be ok as far as widespread flooding (as long as we don't have any thunderstorms...and we shouldn't for the next week).

The places that concern the state's hydrologist (Brian McInerney) are developments that have been built in the last 10 years, or so, in and around the Salt Lake Valley. Many of those developments are in or near drainage areas that haven't been needed in several years but may be needed this year.

Also, there was some concern in the higher elevations along the Wasatch Back but the flooding threat has decreased there in the last month.
