Meosphere.com is all about ME…or you, or anyone who signs up for that matter. It's a website that is based on your favorite things. You start by compiling lists of places you've been, restaurants you have gone to, etc! Through these different lists you basically create a map of your life, online.
Meosphere.com is based right here in Utah! Eric Eliason is the CEO and Founder of Meosphere. We had a chance to talk with him about the site. He launched the site earlier this year and says so far it's been going really well, "It's been a lot of fun, it grows constantly. We see demographics from high school kids all the way up to 73 and 74 year olds," said Eliason. He says the site is all about keeping track of where you've been and the things you have done, a personal diary to some extent.
I think the power of Meosphere really takes off when you start using it to compare your "sphere" with that of others. Eric says it's possible to find whose sphere is the closest to yours. He says they are working on a bunch of different features that extend the site beyond simply adding your favorite things. It’s becoming a true social networking site, despite the fact that Eliason says he has no interest in creating a myspace-type site.
So who would use Meosphere? The audience is everyone. Personally, I think you'd have to have plenty of free time to really build out a Meosphere. People that use sites like myspace.com will love Meosphere. In fact, Eliason tells us you can create a link to paste into your myspace profile. Again, he contends that Mesosphere is a great extension to social networking but not a myspace wannabe. If you're not into the whole online social networking thing, you may find Meosphere to be a bust.
We think it's a pretty neat way to keep track of your life, where you've been and the things you have done. It can help you create a true map of you and we think that's pretty cool.
