I am tiring of people crying about the civil rights of the Texas polygamist group. What about the rights of 13 years old girls who are brainwashed and have 50 year old men forcing themselves on them? I can't say Texas couldn't handle this better, but imagine the logistics of handling 467 kids, basically of unknown heritage. It's unfortunate that a prank call started this, but these pedifiles have run their own exclusive "club" under the guise of fredom of religion. It's time to take these baby raper's down. How would you feel having your 13 yr. old child inducted into this hall of shame? That's why they grow there own stock. These poor girls are bred sadly like cows for slaughter, they don't have a chance. They have been taught that "the life" is the only way to salvation. This has to stop. I'm sick of the cry's of civil rights putting every kind of criminal back amongst us.

if the allegations of child abuse and sexual abuse are true, why have there been NO ARRESTS?? and why remove ALL the kids? are we to believe the government so completely in EVERYTHING they say?? didn't you hear that "spokeswoman" for the texas cps who said "every child was a victim of abuse, or in danger of being abused"? and we the people are to accept without question such blanket statements from anyone?? one more statement i have trouble with is the one made by the same "spokeswoman" when she said "we removed the boys too, because they were being raised to be polygamists". huh??
if there was any kind of sexual abuse going on. then most absolutely, LOCK THE PERPETRATORS UP!! but is the removal of ALL the kids really to "protect them from POSSIBLE abuse"??? or is it simply a power play by the government over the people once again?????
and if the state of texas (or ANY government authority) was truly intent on "protecting" ANY child from "POTENTIAL" abuse of ANY kind, then why don't they simply remove each and every child from each and every home? after all, each and every child out there is in danger of potential abuse of some kind.
one last thing to consider.... the ONLY reason polygamy is illegal in the USA and europe, is because of CHRISTIANITY AND ITS BELIEFS AND DOCTRINES!!!

Exactly the reply I expected. These kids will never testify. Truly they may as well return them and the rest of us can stick our heads back in the sand. Polygamy is WRONG, I'm a man, I only want one wife, I have no use for my own personal PGA course. Wake up.

It is not just about the civil rights of polygamists, it is about your civil rights as well. What is to stop the government from saying that your marriage is invalid because of something. I actually agree with space alien on this if there is abuse going on lock up the abusers, I don't agree with polygamy either and my 1 wife is more than I can handle, but who am I or you to say someones religion is wrong, do you have a problem with the amish too, they are a little weird as well. as far as potential abuse and taking the kids away there are potential abusers and they should be locked up with out commiting a crime. If you have kids maybe your a potential abuser lets take your kids away, and take you to jail you don't care about other peoples civil rights you must not care about your own. Freedom of speech and relegion is sacred in this country and it should be defended by every American for every American not just the ones you agree with.

Sorry Bubbapit, you are way out gunned on this one! I personally would drop all child abusers off the edge of the earth! However the rape of one set of laws to uphold another is totally and completely wrong!! If you think for one moment that a State or Federal goverment will not lie through their teeth to protect their own butt's then you better wake up and smell the coffee! How long did the goverment lie to the "down winders" in southern Utah! The warrant used for the search and seizure of the compound was based on a lie! That should void the warrant and throw out any evidence gathered. Allowing Texas to get away with the violation of the FLDS rights sets a dangerous precident for harm to every freedom loving man, woman and child in this country. If they were truly concerned for the women and children, why not gather up all the men and leave the rest alone? That would have left the women and children together in their own homes! Then the authorities could have taken their time and given individual due process to everyone!! The Texas officials violated atleast 3 different ammendments. I am just saddend by the apathy on the part many people and especially the media across this land! I wonder what the reaction would have been if the flds people were black, hispanic or muslim?

Bubbapit, like everyone else has already said, this case is about so much more then some crazy polygamists. If you trully want to see these men prosecuted (like we all do), then what is going on in Texas should make you cringe. Whats going to happen is that eventually the women and even the men from this polygamist sect will sue and win big, and everything the state did will be for nothing, and it will be even harder to stop these polygamist groups in the future. If your going to prosecute these radical polygamist then do it right. And Scotsman hit it right on, if these were Muslims (and polygamy is very common in Islam) every politician would be screaming bloody murder.

Just remember if the state continues. Then what happens when your way of life is deemed unsafe by the State, will you stand down when they come into your community with tanks and guns?

There's no doubt that Texas is in the CYA mode. But the can of worms has been opened. Perhaps the best move now might be to remove the men from the ranch, place the women and children back there together while the state fiddles. Texas now seems determined to keep the kids separated, and that serves no ones best interests. It would be a whole lot easier to move the handful of men out,and reunite the kids. Texas is dragging their feet.

Texas should have done some actual investigating before barging into peoples homes with machine guns and tanks. It seems that the old texas philosiphy of shoot first, shoot often, shoot some more, and then shoot agian to make sure everyone is dead than ask questions is still the normal practice. I do not agree with the practice of polygamy, but I do condem the practice of child abuse, and underage marriages, and people who hurt children should be sent to prison naked and never given any clothes and forced to sleep chained up to a wall (the 8th amendment should not apply to these people only.) But raiding a compound based on a lie is not acceptable in this country, what if it had beeen your home? what if someone said that you were abusing your kids, and the police came into your home with tanks and guns? would you be so quick to defend them?

Texas has bungled this at best. Never the less, the bags been opened, and it may as well clean up this long running mess up. Look, it even got Harry Ried to make a fool of himself. These sects have gone to great lengths to shield themselves, thats why they've been so tuff to crack. They are not stupid. Texas can handle this much better, but they can resolve the situation as well.
