Ya know, in the past I've been a big supporter of this organization. I think they've lost it. During the last legislative session they made a huge deal out of Chris Buttars comments addressing a bill. His comments were worded stupidly, but not at all in the context they chose to interpret. At first I thawt they were right, but that made me listen closer, then realizing they were way off base. Now they're off on this Obama sock puppet. This is a politcal spoof, it's NORMAL, GET A LIFE! I'm tired of this attitude, you've already changed my vote.

I too have rethought Chris Butter's poor choice of wording and I wonder When Lucas is speaking of the Dark side of the Force is he being Racist too...

As for the Obama doll... If some people had made a Saltine Cracker Mc Cain doll people would be screaming racism... If they knew the stigma exists with monkeys then I think it is stupidly dangerous to advance!!! That is going way too far!!! In this case I do side with the NAACP... That is just too much you know what I mean?

Yeah associating a black man with a monkey is racist. PURE AND SIMPLE! This just proves that all these morons calling Obama a racist are the true racists.

Chris buttars is a moron and should not open his mouth and continue to prove it, it is time for him to join the rest of us in the 21st century, and come in from 1865 it's cold there. Is the Obama monkey racist? Yeh sure it is, but at least the monkey isn't wearing a "Churches Chicken" T-shirt or something like that, maybe taking a few photos with the "Aunt Jamima" syrup bottle. Now that would be racist.

i don't think butters ever meant the comment as it was interpreted,
ya it was dumb but good grief, way to go overboard.
and ya he is a dumb a@@.

and ya the monkey sock obama story, well, we all came from monkeys, so whats the big deal?
when i first saw it i did not think about race at all, i just grinned, it was funny, now it racist. grow up.

if that sock is racist, then every white sock made is racist, McCain should be offended as well.

as for the NAACP.
they spread hate and racism as a business. they are totally out of control.

if there was a white based organization that fought for white rights and opportunities, there would be riots like the world has never seen.

racism is ugly, no doubt, but in my lifetime i have seen more racism towards Caucasians than towards african americans.

i see one color. green, thats from many years of the US Army.

I never associated racism with a monkey, guess I missed something. I just saw the sock as a typical political satire. When I lived in Chicago they made spoof of Richard Daley Sr. in every form imaginable. People today are overly sensitive and wish to stir up things that really just aren't there. I think they are the ones that choose not to let racism die.

Perhaps it's all those years of "good Christian" KKK members and other redneck retards calling them monkeys. Oh and Rifle6, how many white socks are made to look like something racially insensitive. I don't see white socks looking like white hood-wearing pigs. So spare us the apologist rant. Depicting a blackman as a monkey is racist, I don't care how you try to justify it. It's inappropriate. It's just like the idiots that claim that the confederate flag is "PART OF THEIR HERITAGE" and not racist... Well so is the friggin Union Jack and you don't see any of them sportin' that one. I call people like that closet racists. PATHETIC!!!! You call it what you want, but we all know what it is.

melmanure, the perhaps these people that made the puppet could change he animals to a different species, if nothing was meant by it. If people are offended and their intentions are not to offend, then it shouldn't be a big deal. Sounds like a load of B.S. to me.

I think there is a valid reason to suspect racism from the other side.

It's just kinda sad that a silly toy can evoke such response. I guess it's the way people want to see things today. We have become overly sensitive, and take issue over the strangest things. We're all getting just a little bit to serious.

I think you are over simplifying the past. over 400 years of oppression, there is bound to be some backlash. Since you've never been a victim, it's easy for you to brush it aside. You can't blame them for being "overly sensitive". Especially when the video above shows the mentality of some of the racist leaders in Washington.
