Again these gang idiots have senselessly taken another life, a sweet innocent 7 yr. old little girl. Why are they running free among us? Most are juveniles and know the law won't touch them. It's time to lock them up. Federal RICO laws can be used, and the legislature needs to act. Any proof of gang affiliation serves time. Solitary time, so they can't use the time to build stronger ties. They fire guns and hit everyone but their targets. It's time to end this, no matter what it takes.

Gangs are Terrorists!!!

Terrorism is The calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear...

War on terror, How about start fighting it here at home before rolling over seas... Just a thought!

Good thawt, and it's the truth. It's time to stop this indescriminant violence. We've allowed children to play with real guns too long. When 13 yr. olds are the death dealers, we have a serious problem.

There has to be some way to shame kids into not wanting to get into gangs in the first place.. get rid of the draw/allure and the problem will fix itself.

Perhaps a "Loser of the Week" front page exposure highlighting known gang members. Create a spin off contest where kids can draw on the loser gang members face, submit them anonymously, and the most humorous mockery gets printed the next week.

Whats sad is the Chief of SLC is so out of touch he thinks mandatory rotation of Gang Detectives and all other detectives is a good idea. That's like putting Peyton Manning at center and hoping the team still wins. He has fallen into the modern trend of Chiefs in Law Enforcement and became a politician instead of a police chief. Please tell me why his Asst. Chiefs ask officers to "down play" the gang problem when asked by reporters? Good luck if you live in this city because the problem is only going to get worse under this administration.

SLC has been downplaying the amount of gangs for years. Gangs are cowards, only tuff in a overwhelming manpower, or firepower advantage. Once gang officers learn the turf, they should stay unless they want out. We need to dismantle their world.

We have pictures of most gang members, right? We also have a hunting season for deer, why not post the pictures of all gang members than have a hunting season for them?

The real thing we need to do, is stop giving a free pass when a juvinile (sorry for the spelling)commits a crime. He is put on probation or pays a fine. Put them in jail. If the jails are to full we have a weat sesert that could hold a lot of gang members while they were taught the meaning of life.

my theory is if you are old enough to dress yourself feed yourself and get through life every day without assistance you should start to grow up mentaly and if you have to kill a child for your enjoyment in the gangs than you need to be killed by the parents as like the poor innocent child was. if you cant find other ways of making money or doing enjoyable life activites than find one that will not affect anyone else's lives. if your reason for acting out is due to your up bringings grow up their is alot of others who have been thru alot worse than you and has overcome their life problems and has become successful in life.

I say let the punishment fir the crime. If these pathetic cowards cant even aim across a street to hit a house and instead children, they deserve to reap what they soe. It's about time to have the SLC drive-by police unite that takes care BS like this. No matter what the situation if a child is killed by violence someone needs to pay for it. Just a thought, kind of 'extreme' for some but I think its right on 'target'.

as the mother of a 15 year old boy..i can't help but wonder where are the parents of the juveniles that were involved in this tragedy? and what could have possibly been the reasoning behind the shooting. I try with everything that I am to teach my children right from wrong and sometimes I am so scared that my 15 year will want to get involved in gangs. It is not tolerated at my home but when you have friends that think it is cool or something to be part of a gang somethimes the things your parents have taught you go right out the door..if I could I would lock my kids up away from the world just to prevent the opportunity, unfortunatly this can not be done, I often tell my 15 yr old to change his clothes just because I do not want anyone to think he is part of a gang just because he wants to wear red, blue, green, yellow, purple and I could go on and on. It is stupid but it is reality. I just hope for the best and try to teach them right from wrong. And yes there needs to be so more strick laws for these gang members..what the HELL i am so mad right now.. as I sit here and write this it just makes me madder and madder. who the hell do these people think they are.. I can't write anymore, I am just to mad and might say something horrible.
