TILLMAN

I couldn't believe Tillman got evicted from The Greatest American Dog. Especially considering Leroy's owner rubber banded his nose! And the judges are idiots. I don't think Tillman was gonna win, but he was the coolest, mellowest dog, and a good influence. I'm done watching, clearly these judges have a weird agenda all their own.
Oil use & pollution expands more

As oil costs more and our landfill explode with never degrading plastics we continue to expand our use of them. This weekend I noticed my jelly jar has gone from glass to plastic. My wife says the coffee cans are going plastic too. We don't recycle these to any extent, so we continue to bury them to live there forever. Plastics use oil in their manufacture, not wise. And they last forever. Utah needs to adopt mandatory recycling like NYC. I'm not crazy about that, but it's the only way we'll ever get a handle on it. Tin cans rust to dust in a relatively short time, glass can recycle or crushes back to earth dust. These plastics will haunt us forever. I don't know how any of us can alter this practice. Possibly by writing each company a short note expressing our concern. I know, we don't have the time, but it's a place to start. Write a universal form letter, have some copies ready to use. One day we'll be living in a pit like those ball pits for kids, but we'll be in plastic bottles.
FREDDIE & FANNIE

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are in trouble making too many bad loans to those who are trying to live beyond their means. I don't feel sorry for them, but if they fail, we'll all pay. They should not be approving people for such extravagant places. And why do familys of 4 need 3 car garages, 6 bedrooms and 4 baths? We want to be showoffs.
GANG SHOOTING

News
Again these gang idiots have senselessly taken another life, a sweet innocent 7 yr. old little girl. Why are they running free among us? Most are juveniles and know the law won't touch them. It's time to lock them up. Federal RICO laws can be used, and the legislature needs to act. Any proof of gang affiliation serves time. Solitary time, so they can't use the time to build stronger ties. They fire guns and hit everyone but their targets. It's time to end this, no matter what it takes.
CALIFORNIA RULING

Well, it was inevitable that a state would finally approve gay marriage. I see both positive and negative aspects. Being traditional I belive marriage is between a man and a woman, but for many years we've been abusing marriage and using divorce like a turnstyle. And I concede that gay people have a right to a legal bond. If there is anyone to answer to, it's not you and I. We need to stop the hate. We need to find a way to live without the fighting. I do not morally condone the gay lifestyle, nor will I condemn them, there is no "gihad" that is acceptable here. We share this world. I may not totally agree with this, but it is a step towards easing the hate and discontent. It's a changed world, we change with it I guess or die.
FUEL, UTA & US

I operate a small business using diesel powererd trucks. Yesterday we hit $4.50 a gallon. We have been adding a 10% fuel surcharge since it hit $3.70. Now it appears we'll have to go 20%. I hate having to do that, but without we can't survive. UTA faces the same problem. We as American MUST CUT OUR FUEL USAGE! The Arabs need to sell us their oil as much as we desire to burn it up. Vehicles are one thing, simply transportation. But we opt to drive large SUV's, and large pickups. Until we cut senseless trips out and begin driving sensible cars, we will continue to drive oil prices up. We've parked our SUV and are driving a more efficient car. We love those SUV's, they echo success an show we can thumb our noses at the middle east. And for that we have ourselves to blame for the price of oil. The Arabs know we are arrogant and pretty much nothing will curb our lust for oil. We have to get control, one family at a time. When their sales fall, prices will plummet.
SCHOOL POLITICS

A friends wife taught her first year of school this year in Salt Lake. She's a very good teacher. She was given classes with mostly minority students who spoke little Engish. Since many struggled and she graded them accordingly, that looks bad for the administrators. Don't rock their boat and get their jobs questioned. Lets just pass these kids so the school looks good. And she gets penalized as they won't renew her teaching contract. Maybe the administrators need a house cleaning.

Hillary wants to suspend the Federal Fuel Tax. ls she nuts. 80% or more is generally turned over to rhe states for roads. TEXAS

News
I am tiring of people crying about the civil rights of the Texas polygamist group. What about the rights of 13 years old girls who are brainwashed and have 50 year old men forcing themselves on them? I can't say Texas couldn't handle this better, but imagine the logistics of handling 467 kids, basically of unknown heritage. It's unfortunate that a prank call started this, but these pedifiles have run their own exclusive "club" under the guise of fredom of religion. It's time to take these baby raper's down. How would you feel having your 13 yr. old child inducted into this hall of shame? That's why they grow there own stock. These poor girls are bred sadly like cows for slaughter, they don't have a chance. They have been taught that "the life" is the only way to salvation. This has to stop. I'm sick of the cry's of civil rights putting every kind of criminal back amongst us.
More Leaving America

What can we do to stop OUR companies from leaving the U.S. to manufacture in other countries like Lazboy leaving Tremonton? The loss of 630 jobs would be rough in SLC, but it's a catastrophe in a town the size of Tremonton. Why are they leaving? We cost too much to employ. Between wages, health care, retirement plans, sick day pay, in some cases on site child care. We've become spoiled, we want these things or we won't work. Well I see more and more of us watching good jobs leave our borders. We need to get more realistic, WE ARE IN COMPETION with the world, and they work cheap and don't expect all the perks. We're going have to make some concessions to keep our emploment base. We can't keep watching OUR jobs go to other countries. We may be proud of our unions, or health care plans, they do little for the unemployed. We need to become competitive while there's still something here worth competing for.
Italian waste

I am generally agreeable to low level radiation waste being stored out west by Energy Solutions, but I think it should only be of waste generated within our own nation. To take in and transport waste in from Italy is rediculous. I can live with the Skull Valley plan, but not this. Waste generated in our nation has to go somewhere within our country, well maybe not, possibly we can dump ours on another country? How do you think that would go over? Let them keep it!
FEMA Flops in Wells

I see FEMA is not going to aid Wells, Nv. Figures, they are a small community and can't raise enough ruckus to embarass the fed's. Come on FEMA, those people are counting on you! You don't need to rebuild the old, vacant buildings, but help with the rest. These people ARE America!
Buttars comments

At first I agreed with the NAACP's stance on his comments. But the more the media lays it, the more I see it as he says. It was a terrible choice of words, but they were not at all designed to be in the context in which they are being touted. We have all at one time or another used words we'd like to have back. I rarely agree with this man, but today some harmless terms are blown all out of proportion. I a person refers to a friend as a "boyfriend / girlfriend", right away we see them as gay. Come on people, get a life.
Gordon Hinckley

I am not LDS, but I grew to admire President Hinckley. He was an admirable man, a comforting speaker. Certainly the fact he was healthy allowed him great length in his service to his church, as well as every one he came in contact with. Gordon Hinckley and Pope John Paul were two of the greatest men of our time. I shall always respect and remember them. Gordon was a realist, I know when he talked of being in the sunset of his life it brought tears to my eyes. He knew he'd lived a long and good life, and was ready to join Marjorie. But it made me sad for those of us he'd leave behind. The world is a better place for your contributions, thank you.
