I think that it would be great if the web developer of myFOXutah.com made a mobile version that is compatible with mobile devices such as: iPhone, iPod touch, blackberry, etc.. and is user friendly and easy to access. If they could change the format of their videos from Flash to Quicktime or whatever is compatible with mobile devices. I am sure that hundreds of other users on myFOXutah would find that convenient.

Aiptek Action HD - $150
The Action HD is one of only a few pocket digital camcorders that records in 1080P. That's about as high as high definition gets. The camera has a ton of cool features including a flip out screen, a 3x optical zoom, an LED light and a ton of recording modes. You can take digital snapshots at 8 megapixels and shoot video in standard def, 720p, 720p 60fps and 1080p. I love the options but it may be a little bit of tech overload for non-techies. Aiptek didn't shortchage you on the included accessories either. Inside the box you'll find a carrying case, a mini-tripod, a remote control, standard def cables and high-def cables. That's way more than you typical get with a pocket camcorder. There's a little bit of memory built-in but you'll really need to pick up an SD memory card to shoot more than a few minutes of HD video. They're super cheap these days so that shouldn't be a problem. I also had problems playing some of the high-def video back on my PC. I think the video is such high-resolution that my computer can't handle it (3Ghz Pent 4). None the less, hooking up the video cables to my high-def TV worked perfect and looked great.

so long story short, a guy got 50k for sewing microsoft for making a *** console that scratched 3 of his disks.
http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/microsoft-faces-ne
w-xbox-360-reliability-accusations/1274293where is my 50 k? i've had much more then 3 disks scratched, not to mention dvd's and cd's. the vanilla xbox alone, i had to buy a whole new one when my laser light burned out (something that wasn't "if" it would happen, but "when" it would happen. also how many controllers both wireless and wired did i have to buy new ones because something wrong always happened with them. this has been the case with any/everyone i know who has had anything to do with an xbox.
Is it because i just don't take care of my stuff? i doubt it, i have had a ps1 ever since it first came out, never had to replace any cd's, controllers, cords, systems or anything else. this is the same with my ps2. i actually dropped my ps2 down a few steps once and it still works like a charm. my xbox has never been dropped or anything yet still tons of good ole microsoft *** problems.
Also, the ps3 online is free. and there sony version of "xbox live experience" is much more in depth, free, and in all way better. for about a 100 more then the xbox console u get blue ray, plus blue ray grade games. not to mention it already is a reliable console. my 360 controls have yet to fail, but like so many others i have had the red ring of death. it's like a holiday that happens at least once a year. and when i sent it in (payed SIXTY dollars warranty) took about a month and a half to send in and get back, and they gave me a month of xbox live card, about a 8 dollar value, "absolutely free" for my "troubles." this is rediculous. oh and did i mention, any game add ons "aka dlc's" are FREE for the ps3. where as on xbox, it's 600-1200 credits per download (rougly 8-14 dollars per download. oh and they seemed to fire a lot of employees for "just barely" finding out that there *** consoles scratch disks. more like u got caught and sewed for it so had to do something to make urself's look innocent at your employees expense.
what the *** do i get other then the promise of needing future games replaced or refurbished, and paying about 50bucks a year just for the xbox live. plus dlc costs, any kind of other kind of "inconvenience" that is once again, not >>if<< it will happen, but >>when<< it will happen. and how many times and how much will u have to pay xbox (if u didn't pay 20% of the console price for a 2 year warranty) to have them repair when it was there product and is promised to break down at some point.
the only reason u sell so many products, is because u have so many major game designers under contract. such as bungie (halo), gears of war, fable, and many more that are xbox only.
so i'm asking u xbox, when will i get my 50k or at least as much as two original xbox's (when they first came out aka full price), about 8 wired controllers, 2 of the 60 dollar wirless controllers, 1 of the 90 dollar wireless controllers, and i won't even bother to mention how many games. plus my scratched cd's for ur new console, repairs for my new console, and the many, MANY more issues that are bound to come so long as xbox is in buisness? and what about all the other people with these problems (which is anyone that has had a xbox, and used it for at least 6-8 months)

I did like they said, got my converter boxes. I set one up. I am not impressed. I sit here holding 3 remotes, TV, DTV, VCR/DVD player. I see NO advantage to DTV. I already threw away my 3rd. TV. There is so little on worth watching today I threw away TV 2. Saving 1 TV for DVD's and tapes, threw the 2 converters away as well. This whole thing is designed to sell TV's, cable and dish. I'll get my news by PC or radio and newspaper. Crowded airwaves my keester. Good night and good luck.

Joby Gorillapod
$25 - $130
You'll never be stuck holding your arm out for a self-pic while on vacation again. The Joby Gorillapod will attach to any tree branch, railing or ski-doo you throw at it (I wouldn't suggest the latter.) It has a screw-in camera mount that snaps in and out of the Gorillapod with ease while staying connected to your camera. The pod seems to have a pretty strong grip that would give me enough confidence to hang my digital camera upside down. Joby has created a "must have" for the traveler's camera bag.

Litepanels Micro
$300
In the world of camera lighting there are 2 evil enemies, heat and power. You seem to always have too much heat and not enough power. LED lights fix both of those. The Litepanels Micro is an array of LEDs powered via 4 AAs. You can dim the lights to get just the right amount of glow. At full power they pack a serious punch. The Micro weights next to nothing and the LEDs won't burn out on you. The Micro is a great add to your camera bag but expect to pay for the latest and greatest tech. At $300, the Micro may cost as much as your camera!

Aiptek PocketCinema V10
$300
A video projector that fits into your pocket... it seems impossible! Aiptek has proved that it is possible. The PocketCinema is about the size of a pocket camcorder. It uses LED lights to power the projector at 10 lumens with a resolution of 640x480. Sure, it's not high-def but it still looks pretty darn good. The included input cable allows you to hook up any composite video source like your video game system, DVD player, etc. The V10 also has 1GB of built-in memory and an SD slot. You can load video, picture or music files onto it and play them directly from the V10! Charge up the included battery and you're good to go for a couple of hours.
The V10 isn't very bright so plan to find a REALLY dark room to get the best quality picture. Sure, this won't replace your $2000 business projector but it would be the perfect projector for the kid's room or to hook up to the Wii for some serious living room fun.

Epson Artisan 800
$300 ($230 after $70 rebate)
The term "all-in-one" printer is used very loosely these days. I think I've finally found one that can safely use that title. The Epson Artisan 800 is the king of ink-jet printers. It scans, copies, prints, faxes and prints directly to CDs. It has a huge touch screen on the front with a 3.5 inch color display. With the included memory card slots you can actually do most functions without turning your computer on. You can print pictures directly from a memory card, even cropping and making minor edits on the built-in screen. You can scan documents and images directly to a memory card in either jpeg or pdf format. Just plug a phone line in and it's a full-blown fax machine with a built-in sheetfeeder. It also prints like a monster at 38ppm black and white! The company claims it can print a 4x6 in 10 seconds but I would give it an extra 10 seconds on top of that to get the quality you'll probaby be looking for. An 8x10 at full quality took about a minute to print.
The killer feature on the 800 is Wi-Fi! You can use the printer, scanner and memory card slots from your computer without plugging it in. In fact, the only cable you'll need is the power cable. Sure, you can go the USB route if you prefer but I didn't even bother. Wi-fi is great and implemented perfectly in the 800. I had it setup with my PC over my network within a few minutes.
The Epson Artisan 800 is truely an all-in-one printer. The list price, $300, is definately a tad steep but even the company's own website offers a $70 instant rebate with free shipping. At $230, I think the Artisan 800 is well worth it.

Just to be honest I didn't watch the full two hours last week, I watched the first hour, and I made it about fifteen minutes into the second but by then I couldn't take it anymore. I should have written this last week when it first aired but sometimes when something bothers me like this bothered me I like to take a little time in order for my head to sort out the emotional parts and concentrate on all the rest. Here is my list of gripes.
One Week: My first problem with this show is the fact that we have these millionaires that are going to spend a week with the poor. A week? are you kidding me? Sounds to me like these rich, entitled people are going on a vacation more then they are helping people. What in the world makes anyone think that they can even begin to understand how the poor live when they are only going to spend a week with and like them. I can live out in the wilderness on nothing but my wits for a week, doesn't mean I can walk away at the end of that week understanding anything about survival. It's only a week.
$100,000 of their own money: Okay let me get this straight, these millionaires are going to give away one-hundred-grand of their own money. These people are the same people that give nothing away for free. I would like to see the contracts just to make sure they aren't getting anything for doing the show. Which brings me to the second episode of the two-hour block last week. The couple that did this little "experiment" gets their money from a restaurant chain, that the show spent five to ten minutes talking about. Sounds to me like this guy got a steal on a hour-long commercial for his restaurant chain.
Where they live: Now I know for a fact that before these millionaires go out into the poor someone is going out before them inspecting and cleaning. The first episode the father and son team go to a pay-per-day motel to live for the week. I have to say of all the pay-per-day motels I've seen, it was pretty nice. The camera showed a couple of close-ups of the big problems. (a single cockroach, a hole in a door, fly paper? really? flypaper is a problem?) I have to tell you as far as poor living it wasn't too bad. The second couple drove to "their" trailer in their Escalade. I don't think is was even their trailer because there were clothes on the lines outside of the trailer and the "For Rent" sign was the only thing that was really filthy. Inside it was cramped, but it was clean. I could have easily lived there for a month. Did I mention that in both living quarters the sheets were white? Not off-white, but really white? I don't think I even stayed in a hotel with sheets as white as what these sheets appeared to be.
What they live on: The first two guys got $107 dollars to live on for the week. They had to use that money for rent and food. Pretty reasonable. The second couple got the same amount of money but didn't have to worry about rent. In other words, they got $107 for food and gas. I would like to be able to have $107 to spend on food and gas every week.
Are they fooling anyone?: Seriously is anyone being fooled? At the end of the week the first guy was talking to the camera about how hard it was. He hadn't shaven for a couple of days, his hair was a mess and he was downtrodden. But the teeth! I mean this guy is trying to give a heartfelt explanation of what he's learned and I can't keep from getting blinded by his teeth. It was like a Colgate commercial. Does anyone that meets these people in the street really think for a second that this guy isn't loaded? Then there is the fact that the rich folk, undercover, just go around almost like missionaries talking to people. There was this part in the first hour when the father-son team visited the family with the daughter with cancer and it look just like a LDS missionary set-up.
They don't learn anything: So we go through this hour-long facade of a rich person really getting in touch with the poor. Then we are offered the millionaire's thoughts on the whole experience, FROM THEIR YACHT! WTH? You've met a woman that sleeps in a river bed and is still paying for a back surgery, you've met a foster family and all the kids and you've spent time with a family that has a little girl that has no insurance and has cancer. Then you want to tell me about everything you've learned from your private boat? Well, I'll tell you what you've learned. NOTHING! You spent a week with people that will never see with their own eyes the inside of a white leather upholstered boat and you can still get on that thing? Had you learned anything the boat should have been the first to go. Although I didn't finish the second hour I'm sure that the couple didn't turn around and offer a raise to all their employees, or offer better health insurance.
This show for me is little more than a rich person trying to validate their own gluttony by spending a little time with the lower classes then acting out the savior by giving a comparatively small amount of money to a couple of people. I wanted so much for someone to call them on it, but when you are offered at least $25,000 I imagine it's hard to not be grateful.

QWERTY keyboard phones have been around for a while. The problem is, they're just too complicated. They usually run some sort of "smartphone" OS like Windows Mobile or Blackberry OS. Geeks like me love that! Everyone else doesn't. The Samsung Rant is one of a slew of new phones that features a full QWERTY keyboard but sticks with the Sprint basic interface.
Sprint did just recently update their basic interface and I like it! They call it their
One Click interface. It seems to add functionality while making it easier to navigate to most things from the home screen. They keep it simple for those who don't want all the bells and whistles but provide the extra stuff for the cell phone addicts. I especially liked the Google tab on the new interface. Nice tough!
The Rant is a great phone for one of Sprint's everything plans. I watched Sprint TV on it for a good 30 minutes and enjoyed it! Web surfing is fine as long as you stay on mobile sites. Trying to load up a full blown website is somewhat painful on the Rant. The screen is just too small. The good thing is that most big sites offer mobile versions, many of them automatically re-direct you when you surf to their main web address.
The Samsung Rant sells for $50 after a rebate and 2 year agreement on Sprint.

High-def in your pocket! The Kodak Zi6 is one of many new HD memory-based camcorders on shelves for the holiday. The Kodak has a huge (2.4") screen that makes shooting and viewing videos a pleasure! It shoots video in 720p at both 30fps and 60fps! 60fps is kind of a weird option but it could make for some good looking slow motion video and super smooth looking regular motion video. The video looks good although you won't get the same quality as you get with a $2,000 HD camcorder. For the price though, it's a great buy. There's no built-in recharable battery but Kodak makes up for that by including 2 recharable AAs and a charger. They also include both SD AV cables and HD AV cables. You will need to buy an SD (or SDHC) card since the included memory (128mb) allows for about 30 seconds of HD video. The Kodak Zi6 retails for $180.

of all of the consoles that have been sold, none have had the type of staying power that Nintendo has. they continue to find ways to reinvent themselves, and now with the wii and the rediculous wait times to get a system, they have done a stellar job at creating a demand for their products.
i just came across an article that depicts a bright future for Nintendo.

Is it too early to get excited for the Sundance Film Festival? The Institute announced the lineup today. There are 118 feature length films and 90 short films too choose from. I've been looking through the list and talked to the spokesperson for the festival who says this festival will be different from years past. The films are full of emotion...they'll make you cry and laugh out loud. "Boy Interrupted" for example is a movie about a mother's struggle with her son's mental illness. "Dirt! The Movie" examines the relationship between humans and dirt. "Good Hair" features comedian Chris Rock who examines the culture of African-American hair and hairstyles. "Paper Heart" is a film about a woman who doesn't believe in love but finds it. So there is a lot to choose from.
You can find the list and info. on tickets at www.festival.sundance.org
Also, despite the slumping economy...ticket sales are up! Do you plan on going? Have you in the past? If so, what has your experience been like? When I first told my girlfriends I was moving to Utah, they were excited! They all wanted to come visit during the Sundance Film Festival. Last year I went, but it was so packed! So this year I'm hoping to cover it as a reporter and perhaps enjoy it personally as well!
The SFF runs from Jan. 15-25th!

Asus Eee PC S101 - $700
If there is one new product this year that is blowing me away it's got to be the tiny little netbooks. Ok, so they actually have been around for longer than a year but they've really gained steam this year and Asus seems to be leading the charge. They pretty much invented the category with their first Eee Pc. The S101 is one of the newest models. It offers a bigger screen, an SSD instead of a hard drive and a less plasticy build. At $700 it's the perfect laptop for the laptop user on the go who needs to check email, surf the web and work on documents. No photoshopping, video editing or game playing here. Anyone who does THAT on a laptop should expect to pay much much more. I'm a big fan of the netbooks and the S101 is one of the best ones out there right now.
