I'm so sick of all the mud! Especially because I think we are looking at a race between two men worthy of admiration.
McCain took a turn away from his campaign's negative direction today, showing his true metal:

It's worth reading. Our country is in too much trouble right now to see anything but the best from our leaders. McCain's best is pretty darn good!

Hey gang,
Can't believe that after I called all the senators and congressmen to NOT pass the bailout, they did it anyway.
So after all this political season's turmoil, I don't think that anybody can really say that they trust anybody...at least "up there on the hill." I'm just waiting for people to wake up to the reality that CBS, NBC, ABC, and yes FOX are our friendly neighborhood "propaganda machines." Will somebody please do something that represents the will of the people. The news networks are not providing us raw information. And they don's seem to be concerned with uch more than ratings and sales. Give us some truth...even when it hurts you guys.
We know that we don't have a really good choice one way or the other, but at least let me still cling to my guns and religion. And please will somebody wake up the news on the way out.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the great state of Utah. Dell Shanze is NUTS! Below is a conversation that I had with Mr. Shanze about is running for Utah State Governor and his religious take and point of view. The guy is an absolute religious fanatic. Please read this it is actually quite funny. The conversation begins at the bottom of the page.
There is no arguing with satan. I'm just pointing out where your inspiration is coming from just so you know and can do something about it. You also don't understand the constitution either. It isn't a separation of church from state but state from church. Satan influences others like you to use that false verbage to further remove God from anything possible. You follow satan. It is that simple. You will also be responsible for the 1.3 million child executions that will occur if Obama gets elected. Of course satan probably has you convinced that a Christian can be for abortioin. NOT. Yes you are free to follow satan, I'm free to tell you that you are.

Dear sir,
To believe that satan rules my life and I follow his teachings i ridiculous! Thats a cop out. If you believe that you can be elected to public office on mear religious beliefs is also ridiculous. To call Obama a socialist is moronic especially coming from a Libertarian! Religion has no place in politics. We need someone who is responsible for him or herself and can maintain a highly demanding office such as governor! You sir obviously have no quams with destroying your once descent public image and that is the kind of governor you would be. Someone who cannot seperate church from state. You obviously have no idea what your doing or how to become a political figure otherwise you would learn how to seperate church and state. You have no argument for me except that i am "EVIL" and i "FOLLOW SATAN" and that just proves my point that you are not ready for public office. Sir i do believe in god and follow his commandments but dont think for a moment that i am the type of person that does not know his politics. Obviously i won this debate so good luck on November 4th. My prediction-2500 votes for you. not bad. Good luck with money train.

The reason you think that is because you follow satan dear sir. His influence flows through you preventing you from seeing truth for truth. All his followers say the exact same things and are just as incorrect. There is no logic or reason to satanism. Suggesting God will bless America and then voting for socialists like Obama is blatantly stupid to anyone with the spirit of God. Please repent and follow the commandments so your blinders can be removed.

Mr. Shanze,
You act as if your life and actions are not of your own doing. You put yourself in that kind of situation and take no responsibility for your actions and still expect people to respect the kind of decision make skills that you are exhibiting? Even your response to my message was blaming the other guy and that your a victim of circumstances that were beyond your control?!? Sir i don't mean to bash you or your ideas i am just giving you an outsiders perspective to a candidate for governor of the state of utah. Your response to a poorly worded message on my part completely reiterates my thoughts that you believe that the world is out to get you. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors but i sincerely hope you don't achieve the elected office that you are attempting to take command of. If you do, GOD HELP US ALL! God bless America!
Vote for Barrack Obama!
Good luck to you sir

I must be the fastest draw in history to pull a gun on 3 people standing right in front of me and none of them even saw it. The media totally lied to you, the whole thing was a shame to attack freedom. Now you stand with the frauds instead of the American. Anyone seen the cover of Newsweek? It's got Gov. Sarah Palin, up close and personal. So close up that "some", we'll call them the critics, say it went too far. Newsweek won't comment, but the experts in the field of retouching say she wasn't touched up. She was exposed, flaws and all. Her facial hair, wrinkles, moles. Critics say Barack Obama has been on the cover plenty of times, making him look "Presidential", with touch ups to make him look "soft." What do you think? Everyone is welcome to comment, but what do you (the females) think about the cover? Many of you may say: embrace our flaws! I agree. We're not perfect! Nobody is flawless. But I think the point critics were trying to make is that Newsweek set out to make Palin look flawed, on purpose. All I know is this, take a shot of ANYONE that close up without a little airbrushing and it won't be "pretty."
Hence the article's title. That's another issue for some pundits. The title on the cover: "She's one of the folks (and that's the problem)."
Here's a link to the cover...

To those of you who replied thank you. I'm glad there are people who think like I. The Goverment has so many things more important things to deal with this should not be one it's not their bussiness.
As for Sunsmiles what does it matter if they are abused?
The Mormons are a plague to me almost and it irritates me. They buy up half of Salt Lake and try to dictate to the people what they can and cannot do, call me crazy they are reminding me of someone else we all know.
We have men and women die for this country everyday across seas to protect our freedom but who is protecting our freedom from the goverment and the LDS?
I'm not trying to persuade anyone to agree on my view all I would like is for all who are against same sex marrige to set out of your safe close minded box and ask your self what you would feel like in their situation. They are no different than us on the inside they too have feelings. WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAPPINESS. I think some really smart guy one wrote something like this down on paper, or have you forgotten? If you have forgotten what it reads google it and read it again.

KSL is running a debate for the Congressional race. However, not all cantidates on the ballot are welcome to join in this. I feel it is an unfair race and not giving the people of our state all the choices. You dont have to agree with the politics always, but dont you want to know who else is there. Jim Noorlander is that cantidate for the Congressional race in the 3rd district. Through the last election he pulled 9% of the votes. That is powerful no matter how you look at it. Now ksl will not let him join this debate because he is not a republican or a democrat. Please take time to email or call ksl and debate this to let him on. Dont you want to know all your choices

The rhetoric is ramping up here lately. Its election year, and someone always wants to change the world. What new laws will be passed? What rights will we lose at the hands of government, ripe with corruption, and big business, who is ever so riper with greed mixed in with corruption? What new laws, will a over zealous member of our supposedly unbiased law enforcement community bend, and change to feed fear, and oppression in our communities? And, what rhetoric will the public buy into, become confused, and support those who rape us of our freedoms and liberties?
Its election year. The November elections are just under a month away. Its time, people chose who they want...not to be made to do so by fear, and distortion of the truth.

Cindy McCain said yesterday she thinks Barack Obama's campaign is the dirtiest in American history.
The NY Times doesn't make as sweeping a statement (honestly, they were NASTY in the 19th century,) but the Times says McCain has sunk lower than any campaign in recent memory.
So, who's right?

Breakdown,
I really wish you would take down your block to respenses to your blogs.
If universal health care for all Americans is a good idea, why is it a good idea?
If it is a right, not a responsibility, why is that?
I'm having trouble understanding why all the past generations of Americans have managed to hold the responsibility for their own health care and suddenly, in our generation, it must become the responsibility of government. Is there some hindrance to standing on our own feet, come what may? And if whatever comes overpowers our health, so be it. It's what we have always done, and nobody used to be ashamed of that. Why are we now? And what's next? What else will we hand over to the government considering that everything we have given up to them already is so poorly managed? How about we hand over our freedom of choice? Let the government choose our elected leaders. Let the government pick out our house and our cars. Our families. How about whether we live or die? We start down that road, it will not stop. This is America, damn it, not the Soviet Union.

What did we learn in the debate last night? For one thing we learned that John McCain is not an orator and Obama is. We learned that substance is not what we say but what we do. The American people have been fooled before by smooth orators many times; Jim Jones, Jim Baker, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite and so many more. We are accustomed to hearing about these things and they seem to roll off peoples back. Some are so ready for change that they care less about a candidates background. I’m sure the people who followed any of these so called leaders felt the same way. Senator Obama may be just the ticket for our society but I’m not about to take his word for it, I want to see facts about his background before he becomes my president. I would like to see his thesis from collage to see what his thoughts were back then, I would like to get a real understanding of his relationship with the domestic terrorist Ayres, I think we need to know his real feeling toward Reverend Wright and what his relationship with ACORN has been. There have been so many radical people in his background that have not been yet revealed by the major media sources and I feel we should get to the bottom of his relationships before jumping in on his bandwagon.
Who is John McCain? He’ a terrible Orator we know that but what are his true values? He is a war hero, has been a Senator for many years. Is known as a maverick in his party and has jumped party lines many times in the past to get his agenda through. He has built inter party relationships with several democratic senators and has joint authored many bills that have crossed party lines. He has been vetted by every media representative in the country and some overseas.
I know I will get a lot of flak for comparing Obama to the above characters but we don’t know anything about him. He was a neighborhood organizer for the Daley machine in Chicago and that could be a problem for him. He has associated himself with people like Tony Rezzco who is now in prison. His longtime friendship with William Ayres. These thing have a enough poison in them that they require real answers. I only ask the diehard followers to examine the facts as they are presented. You are not just messing with your country it’s mine too and I really don’t look forward to a socialistic America and that is how I feel we are headed.
And that’s my opinion,
Don

I do not profess to be a political giant nor do I have a great deal of knowledge about politics, but having said that I have no confidence in eigther one of these candidates. Am I alone? Both of them take a debate question and try to answer it and turn it around as if the question was an entirely different question. Neigther on of them can answer the tough questions such as illegal immigration and global terrorism. There is one question that I would like to ask about eduaction. When are we going to stop allowing illegal aliens a free education so they can turn around and hate Americans and learn how to fly planes into buildings and learn how to build bombs to blow us up? Also, Why would anyone vote for a president who's closest freinds hate America? Why would we vote for a candidate you thinks that a $5,000.00 tax credit is going to take care of the health care crisis? In my opinion the only way for health care reform is to quit allowing those of us who are not citizens of this country free medicine when most of us work 1,2, or 3 jobs to afford the medicinal necessities for our families. Why vote for any candidate who's economical outlook is a 700 billion dollar "rescue" or "bailout" plan to buy out bad mortgages in this country and allow them to refinance there homes at the current market value of the home? Why should I have to pay for the poor descision making of others who live beyond their means and than turn around and cry to the government for help so the rest of us that have a normal home and family to sacrifice our money to save their butts? Granted, that is what the system allowed them to do, but don't ask me to pay for a flawed system when I used a fraction of intelligence while buying my home. What good will it teach any of us when we make a poor decsision that we can look to our government to help make up for poor choices. The only time governmental assistance is accepted is in times of natural disaster and destruction. They can't even pull that off correclty. I LOVE MY COUNTRY AND THE FREEDOM I ENJOY. I LOVE A GOOD POLITICAL IDEA. LET ME KNOW WHEN ONE COMES UP.

For the longest time I supported Obama, until I saw his record and that of McCain's. The choice for me is a clear one, but deep inside of me there is one part of me that still really wishes Obama to win in November. That one thing that I really dislike about McCain is his stance on Health care.
Obama is Pro-universal Health care. Sure we can go around calling it by different things but what he is proposing is the government adding millions of American's to it's health plan. Personally I think it's a great idea. Health care should be a right and not a responsibility as Mr. McCain says. I don't care about the costs or the fines that might have to be levied against certain people. Everyone deserves good health care.
My problem still remains. I don't think he'll do it. His actions and his record shows him to be another political stooge, but, if he does win I hope that he at least fulfills that promise.

Why Palin why??
You are the first female to be nominated to the second highest office in government.
You have a responsibility to every woman out there who have fought for the right to vote, work equal pay ect ect. let me say that again Sarah Palin you have a Responsiblity to Prove that a Woman can do the job better or just as good as man.
Sarah Palin you failed during the debate, and your first interview to prove to America that you are something more than a peace of china to the republican party.
You joked and played around during the debate only flirting with the answers. You kept winking into the carmera. You defenitly let everyone know you will answer very obedintly to your boss and the republican party in a very womanly manner.
You owed it to every woman out there to show that you can be the woman in charge a leader that knows the answers not a doll for the republican party.
At least Hilary Clinton let everyone know she is no ones puppet.
I will admit I am sexist person. I love the lady's love em. I respect them I open the doors for them I let go in front of me. I treat them as my betters why because for the most part they are. And I want to show my daughter she deserves no less from any man when she gets older.
I personlly think that the world would be a better place if women were charge.
I think that when men met at anything its just a cockfight period.

Just in response to the Pres debate last night - I have to give Obama the win. Although both candidates had moments of strengths and weakness, Senator Obama was better able to articulate and sustain his position of leadership. I have the utmost respect for Senator McCain, but I didn't feel he was as sincere in his responses, sidestepped on a variety of the issues and didn't present himself as the best choice to lead this country - whether it is in crisis or not. I was left with the impression that he is a puppet figure who would be easily manipulated into passing and/or sustaining policies that would be detrimental to the majority of citizens in this country.

I want to know why our government can ignore the little guys while sitting back with their fat paychecks, pretending we don't exist? If it wasn't for us little people, the government wouldn't have their fat paychecks. It's the little people who pay their taxes to pay their paychecks, and make the country function.
I am starting to understand why people like Timothy McPhee did what he did. Though it is still not right, I understand. He was simply trying to get the government to help and they ignored him time after time. He finally got to the point of exasperation and did a horrible act to get the governments attention. Did it?
Again the government knew the warnings of 9-11 and chose to ignore the facts. When will our government wake up and see that people are crying out for help? How many more times is things like this going to happen before they realize there is a problem with their own American citizens? 'Bailout' our own people before we help the rich....let them bail their own butts out. Why doesn't the government share some of their paychecks to help the little people out?
Welfare won't help me because I don't have dependent children. I'm 43- HELLO. I only asked for a little bit of help ( about 2 months) while I got a very needed surgery done, and got the response, "Sorry we can't help you. You don't have any dependent children living at home nor are you going to be disabled for 12 months or more." Would it seem like they would rather pay 2 months of help over 12+ months of help? Needless to say, I can not get the surgery, because I don't have any insurance; I can't get a job to get the insurance because I can't get the surgery; I can't get the surgery, because I can't get the job to earn money to pay for the surgery. I'm in a catch 22 situation. I am 43 years old and was laid off in January due to the economics crunch; I obtained employment but was quickly let go due to the problem (problem: why I need the surgery); I have used up all my unemployment and my extension and now have no income to even begin to pay my bills. Soon I will loose every thing, not like I have much to begin with, I live in a fifth wheel camp trailer. I have sent e-mails out to my local reps and senates, I have not heard anything back....."I'm being ignored." Again I ask, "HOW CAN OUR GOVERNMENT SIT THERE AND IGNORE US?"

I think it's hilarious how the Obama/McCain campaigns are complaining about how the other is using negative political ads to attack their opponents. They must be kidding right? Do these people go to a boxing match and ask "Why are they hitting each other? It's so barbaric!"
As far back as I can remember political opponents have used negative ads. I would certainly hope that the majority of voters have figured out that we shouldn't be using the 30 sec promos to judge who we are going to vote for. Think of them as more money leaving the pockets of the rich to hopefully fall into the hands of the middle/lower classes.

I watched with great interest last night. Senators John McCain and Barack Obama going head to head in a townhall style debate (said to be one of McCain's strengths). I won't share my thoughts on the debate, but I want to know what you think.
Watching the pundits talk last night about the debate, they said it was more of the same. Did you feel like you got more of the same? Or did the candidates answer your questions?
This debate was supposed to be a home run for Sen. McCain. He's known for doing well in townhall style debates. But pundits are saying, he didn't live up to that expectation. Who do you think won the debate? National Polls (right now) say Obama came out on top. We've also got a poll on our website. With 700 votes so far, Obama has the lead. You should let us know who you think did a better job. The point is, this was round 2. The third and final debate is next week in New York. I guess when you think about it, that's not a lot of time to get to know your presidential candidates. Any thoughts?
What are you expecting from next week's debate; and are any of you still undecided on who to vote for?
Thanks!

Thank goodness there wasn't a drinking game for every time Senator McCain said "my friend(s)" ... the participants would have all died from alcohol poisoning.
It came off as being very condescending and arrogant. I got tired of it after the first few dozen references. One daughter decided to not vote for him; she knows they aren't buddies. The only time it was appropriate was when he addressed the gentleman who'd been in the navy ... a good officer knows who makes the system work.
Senator McCain, although he claims to be your friend, doesn't exactly fit the 'Joe Sixpack' image. However, I'd gladly test that theory by indulging in a few while metaphorically picking his brain over matters that are important to my family.
Truth be told, if I could pick one person worth getting a hangover with it would be Governor Palin. Regardless of whether you like her political views or not, this is one compelling woman ... a quick study whose pit bull/hockey Mom line is a classic. Her dedication to education is well documented ... I respect a person who is willing to walk the walk. Granted, a few other areas don't reflect the same dedication; but which one of us doesn't have our moments?
So, here's an open invitation to Governor Palin from another hockey Mom with the reputation of a pit bull ... who happens to have also played and coached hockey - yes, while wearing lipstick ... and who appreciates the difference between being a woman and 'acting' too much like a lady.
Let's show them some real women ... tequila/beer slammers and a game of pool. I might be old (including a prosthetic wrist that severely limits my game) and otherwise past my drinking days, but imaginary penny bet says I keep up with you.
