How does everyone feel about Obama winning? For those who voted for McCain it is a shame. I am a McCain voter. I am also already a little uneasy about Obama. I watched his acceptance speech although I did not really want to. He just seems a little fake. It does not even seem like he wrote the speech himself. He thanked McCain even though he has been ripping him apart for a long time. I guess all presidents do that because it is the gentelmen's thing to do, but I am sure it is not what he wanted to do. In the beginning of his speech he said that this "change" he has been promissing may not be present in the next year or even during this term, but to please work with him. He is already backing down. He sure promised America a lot of stuff. I hope he can keep it. People do not understand that presidential candidates do not always do what they say they are going to do. I think America just did not want a republican in office. Bush, unfortunately, gave a bad name to the republican party. I guess we just have to see what happens. I did not really like either presidential candidate though. I do realize that all presidential candidates are corrupt, and if they are not when they go in office they are when they come out. I did worry about McCains health deteroriating, but I also really liked Sarah Palin. I also think that with McCain it would just be more of the same stuff for our country, but I have a bad feeling that Obama will make it even worse, especially being that I am not a democrat. I was born and raised in Utah. For those of us who wanted McCain maybe he will suprise us.

Hello! So I just watched this movie called "The Secret". I guess it came out like two years ago. I don't know what to think of it though. It's this new revolutionary idea that says the universe is your cosmic genie. You can have anthing you want. Basically you are supposed to decide what you want, picture yourself getting it, and actually believe that you will get it. If you do that the universe will bring it to you. It is not so much just wishful thinking as it is actualy believing you will get it and staying positive about the world around you. Supposedly it works for everything: money, health, relationships, etc...Many of the successful big shots swear by it. Apparently this "secret" has been in existence for thousands of years, but people just didn't know about it except for all the famous successful people.
I am sure that this brought up a lot of debate. What I want to know is does it actually work? I question it a little bit, but I am open minded. Some of it does sound a little far fetched. I am sure that if I picture myself driving a new Acura, and I believe that I will get so when I wake up there is going to be a new car in my driveway? It even seems a little greedy does it not? Just striving for wealth and power.
I have to do some part to get what I want. Of course I have to put my foot forward. I believe that staying positive is important, but I think that if it is true then the Universe does not bring those things to you, but rather the opportunities to get those things. I believe that the principle of hard work still applies.
There are points where I do agree. Oprah, possibly one of the top three most successful women in the world who claims to have used it, says that if you are sad you will find life worse, but if you appreciate what you have then you will have even more. Whether it is true or not sometimes one of the keys to a happier life can be simply just changing your attitude.
On the other hand the idea sounds a little dangerous. It could make you a slave to your job. I could go to work at a fast food restraunt everyday of my life being positive and expecting a promotion, and it will never happen for me! I need to take the steps to get what I truly want. I can stay positive and believe that I will get what I want, but I need to find a job that will allow for growth because that is what I want is a better job. The other question I have about the secret is where does god play in all this? I believe in god. This video I watched may have become a religious cult. It's about the universe and the fates. Surely god has to be in this somewhere. A lot of people claim that it works. What do you guys think?

So I just skimmed the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. It talks about Daniel Radcliff, that kid who plays Harry Potter, being nude in some play. It's a quite a story. I just have to wonder a few things. Didn't he do this last year? I don't know, but I guess there has been a lot of negative feedback about it. They think it's wrong that this childrens icon would appear nude. I don't really think people should judge him for it.
Sure he's Harry Potter and all, but I think those kids in the movie worry about that being all they will be remembered for. He's just trying to prove his adulthood. He's not that twelve year old with glasses. Most people typically don't use that as their solution, but he has been growing up in the public eye for the last eight years. I'm sure it was fun to go through puberty for all the world to see.
Most teens, older teens, and young adults do stuff like that just for the shock value. Young people are very naive about stuff like that. They say they smoke, get piercings, sleep around, dress a certain way, and pose nude because that's what they want to do. No! They do it because they want to be shocking and because they are morons! I think his motives are different though.
Plus he probably appreciates art. Physically he really has grown up. There were still shots in the magazine. That guy is ripped. I'm sure he has mentally matured to especially with a high pressure job like that. That girl who plays Hermoine thought about resigning her role because she thought that would be all she would be remembered for, and that kid who plays Ron was in some other movie. Sadly that probably will be allthey are remembered for in the public eye. That Hermoine girl should just finish out her role. They are making so much money of off it. If they save some of their millions they'll be multi-millionaires by the time they retire. Honestly they could work fast food the rest of their lives and still be rich when they retire.
So what if that's all they're remembered for? Someone did an exercise with me a few years ago. The lady asked me a whole bunch of questions as to whether I knew about these people making these huge accomplishments. The next set of questions was about people I love and people who influenced me. My loved ones were the only ones I could name. No one else in the group knew the names of those big shots either. Really when you die it's going to be the people you love and the lives you've touched that remember you and appreciate you the most. Sure people have influenced the world and names are remembered, but it's really most important to look at the lives you personally touch. They will honor you the most. Not to say that you should not try to do things for society because everyone should do their best to give something to the world, but that's how I would look at it in their situation.

This issue may seem kind of old, but with the election coming up in a couple of months I think I've made up my mind about who I'm going to vote for. Voting is a crazy thing. My little vote is not going to matter, but I'm still going to do it. I guess every vote counts. You can't complain about what's going on in this country if you don't vote, but I certainly don't think I'll be voting for Obama. What do people see in this guy? For one thing raising the taxes when we are in a struggling economy headed for a depression is just plain dumb. I don't know how people can not see that. When our free loving nation falls in love with a man who's middle name is "Hussein" that's when we know the world is coming to an end. He doesn't sound too encouraging to me! People are just nuts!

Music
Well I was just looking for music to download, and I came across Jessica Simpsons new album. I guess she's gone country. Being that I don't listen to modern music that much anymore I was suprised when I sampled it. I just went "This is Jessica Simpson?" She sounds natural. It was as if she's been doing country her whole life. She's always had so much talent which brings me to my next point. I think with todays music it's never really about the music anymore. It's about the fashion and how wild you can be. While this is true with country music as well country music tends to have a higher moral back bone. People don't smoke, drink, and flash nearly as much at those country concerts. I think Jessica Simpson has always held a higher standard. One of her motives was to prove to young girls that you can still be popular success without giving up your morals. For one thing she stayed a virgin until she was married, and how often does that happen anymore especially with young, attractive celebrities who could have sex with anyone they want to. I think transitioning to country was a smart choice for her. Everyone felt that her "Boots were Made for Walkin" video was a little loose, but when it comes to those celebrities who she competes with such as Britney Spears, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, etc she will probably be the only one who has her life in order and will come out of this famous lifestyle all right in the end. This was because she had higher standards. I don't read the about celebrities lives that much, but if she did sleep around and do drugs she is probably trying to fix that. It's the same with Mandy Moore.

I noticed a lot of channels like MSNBC, CNN, etc. doing a whole segment and discussion on celebrities versus the paparazzi. They were talking about the issue of these photographers and editors not leaving the celebrities alone. Frankly I do not see how this is news. While I love the entertainers very much I do not have much sympathy for them. The rich and the famous make up the minority of this country. These celebrities have so much money. They can do whatever they want. They are making money as they brush their teeth while the rest of the nation is facing home foreclosures and having to deal with rising gas prices. There is a war on the middle class, which is the majority of this country, and many of them are worried about having money to fit their basic needs at the end of the month. Then of course we have soldiers suffering and dying in Iraq. The celebrities most likely knew what they were getting themselves into. I would take the job and put up with the paparazzi if I was making their money. They are very spoiled. I love the fact that the world has entertainers because the world needs to be entertained, but I think they get enough of a reward for it that the news should not make an issue of the paparazzi. It would be an ok segment for Entertainment Tonight and other news programs that are strictly about entertainment, but the well respected networks likes CNN and MSNBC do not need to do that. Who cares? Focus on the real issues. I don't know if Fox does that a whole lot at least. :)

So I was watching CNN the other day. There are many depressing issues out there such as the economy, Iraq, the presedential race, etc... but one that does not seem to get as much attention is the way that the N-Word is being used in the media and affecting the nations youth. Whoopi Goldberg got into some argument with some woman on the View. Whoopi Goldberg feels that blacks should be allowed to use the N-Word but whites should not. That is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Whoopi Goldberg's whole argument was that blacks took the N-Word and changed it. My question is why would they need to take it and change it? Whoopi Goldberg makes it sound as if white people were trying to change the word's meaning themselves. To the best of my knowlege the N-Word was introduced as a derogatory term for black people. It had no other meaning than that. I would say to just abolish the word. Maybe gay people should take the F-A-G word and use that with each other or maybe mexicans should take the word "EDIT" and use that with each other. The big argument among all these groups will be that the meaning of the word is being changed. Black people get so upset when white people use that word, so black people can not use that word and get mad when white people use it. There was a black woman on CNN speaking on this issue. She said that Whoopi Goldberg does not necessarily speak on behalf of all black people. She did not agree. Whoopi Goldberg can be very entertaining, but I think she has let the fame mess with her head. What a fruit cake! They either abolish the word or everyone is allowed to use it. I would choose abolishing it.

Before I went to work this morning I was contemplating something. I was just thinking that it is July, and I have been out of high school for a little over a year. During this time I have become friends with interesting people and have learned many life lessons. While I do not remember very much of what they tried to teach us in high school I do remember how they said in my child development class that children are much more forgiving than adults are. People do not think about that very often, but it has actually proven to be quite true. Adults are not very forgiving. My friend got kicked out of the house because his family thinks he lies to them too much. It does not hurt to mention that these were small lies. Not only that, but his aunt who he is living with said that if he ever lied to her again that she would disown him and never talk to him again. It looked to me like he was pretty darn sorry, and it was not just because he was getting kicked out. While children tend to be more forgiving that kind of attitude is just childishness. My mother is a good christian person, and she would never give me that kind of attitude no matter what I did. She may not always appreciate the decisions I make, but she is never going to hold grudges and never speak to me again. We are still family. The same can be said with my uncle. We all work in a family business, and he quit for some stupid reason three years ago, and none of us have spoken to him sense. He does not even come to any of our family events anymore. There are certain things that I can understand why people would have a harder time being able to forgive. Things such as murder, rape, or adultery are understandable, but so many adults just hold grudges over dumb things. As a result they miss out on some great relationships just like my uncle has not been up to date on what goes on in the family. The joy of relationships is perhaps one of the greatest reasons why we should forgive. A bishop had his family killed in a drunk driving accident, and his first thought was "I'm going to have to forgive the man who did this to my family." I would certainly have a difficult time with that. If a person is forgiving to that level then that is very honorable. In the New Testament someone asks Jesus Christ who is the best in terms of obedience to the lord and his response is that the children are the best. As children we all need to be forgiving and submissive in our willingness to do what is pleasing to the lord or at least doing what is right.. Not everyone has the power to forgive like that bishop, maybe not even me, but everyone has the ability to forgive and forgiveness is truly a virtue that we can all strive to achieve. For those that believe in the Judgement Day do we not want the lord to be merciful towards us? I do not want to sound like a hypocrite, so I will say that it has been promised that the Judgement Day will be both fair and merciful. I do not know how worthy I am, but I do know tha I must at least try to be forgiving as I would want the lord to be forgiving towards me.

I was watching the news the other day, and I thought of something kind of funny. Ever since I was a kid for as long as I can remember news programs have been talking about how things can kill you. I saw Fox 13 show a commercial for the local news where they say they are going to warn people of the dangers of some smoothie company. I think that was what it was about. It is not just Fox that does this though. It is every news program. If you tan in the sun too long it can kill you! If you have this cleaner in your house it can kill you! If you eat steak at this resteraunt it can kill you! If you turn on your car it can kill you! If you step on to your front porch it can kill you! Everything can kill you! I guess you can not avoid that though. The news needs to warn people of things that may present a hazard. Stil, l I feel that if I listened to the news about everything that can kill me I would have to live in a plastic bubble. I was talking with my dad about it the other day. I found it pretty funny!

Hey Fox Corporation what the heck? There have not been any new Family Guy episodes lately. Fox is the only channel I really watch even with my digital cable. The Simpsons, Family Guy, and that pretty much covers it. I realize there has been a writer strike, but it has been over for a while, and all the other shows are coming out with new episodes. Every week I hope for a new episode and it is always a re-run. I watch family guy all the time, but I'm getting sick of the old episodes. I want some new ones. I do not watch much t.v , so I need something to watch when I do. I hope they are not going to cancel it again. I would be so sad! Oh tear! Lol. Am I right or what guys? Family Guy is the best show!

Well I was just watching the story on the pornography debate. What an exciting topic! Why would it not be? it's about sex! (Laughs) Some feel it's a poison while others feel it is fine as long as it is in the hands of responsible adults as they said. I think it's ok if viewed responsibly! That's why it's called adult entertainment. Meaning that it should probably be viewed by responsible consenting adults. No one is forced to view it, so why is it an issue? Adults can make decisions and if they do not use it responsibly then that is their problem! That is why prohibition does not go very well with most people because in America people are free to make decisions. What are your opinions?

So I was just watching the live season finale of "The Apprentice", and I was just wondering what other people thought of Donald Trumps decision to elect Piers as the Celebrity Apprentice? Boy! What a tough decision that would be! Piers managed to raise a hell of a lot more money, but Trace Adkins was so much more ethical. They really forgot to mention ethics in the boardroom. That's why the decision is tough. No one likes Piers, but he still raised the most money. I guess it all boils down to the last dollar! The money was for charity though, so it does seem less corrupt, and what is with Donald Trump only awarding the Celebrity Apprentice $250,000.00? He is a billionaire! God knows I am not a rich man, but that would be like two dollars out of my pocket! That amount of money does not mean anything to him! I was hoping it would be like a million! Great show though! I enjoyed it! It was a good finale! I was so happy I did not have to work so I could watch it! What are your opinions?

So I was just watching a short video on teacher raises and car seats and thought I'd blog about it. They're both totally different issues, but they were together. Children in car seats at the age of eight? Sounds a little old to me. Geeze! Why don't we just have them eat out of highchairs and put them in cribs while were at it!? Of course, it is to keep children safe, and isn't that what's more important? Still, I'm sure an eight year old can fit in a seatbelt, and if they can't they have devices to help with that which aren't as ridiculous as a carseat. Plus you just want to make sure they ride in the backseat until they're twelve. As for teacher raises, I don't know! I'm considering teaching for my English degree when I get it, but I still don't know. If I do teach I will probably do it out of this state. I have gotten a great education for some of my teachers, but I'll probably leave because Utah just continues to screw it's students and it's teachers over! I remember that teacher walk in 2001 where they went on strike for one day. I remember picket signs saying "Utah Students deserve more!" Not much has changed. Utah teachers deserve more as well.

well it's Valentines day and I'm at home because my job got cancelled due to weather, so I thought I'd blog about Valentines. I don't know what other category it goes under other than news, plus other people are putting it there. Like many people I hate Valentines or have mixed feelings. I'll give two good reasons. One is that it's the day after my partner's birthday, so I have to buy two presents, and it's very stressful financially, and then I have to make time to celebrate both. The other reason that applies more to everyone is because there really is no purpose for Valentines. Why should only one day be special if you love somebody?Usually you're supposed to do something special for your partner on Valentines, but it means more if you do something special out of the blue! Who came up with that crap?! There are many opportunities to do something special. That's what christmas, birthdays, and anniversaries are for! You don't need another day! You have the opportunity to show your love everyday of the year! Anyway, I was wondering what other people think of that. What is the reason for Valentines? There really is no point.

So how about this show "The Moment of Truth"? I thought I'd blog about it in my spare time. It's a great show and I enjoyed it, but the only thing about it is I don't see much competition. All you have to do is tell the truth. I realize that the questions are kind of hard to admit to, but the thing is even if you lie the lie detector will find out, and your family will find out on the show. If you set the money aside it is sort of a lose-lose situation. There really is no reason to lie on that show. Just tell the truth and they'll give you money! and I think that your family would rather that your being honest with them even if it is for money. There's no competition! You don't have to an IQ or luck or anything! Although some of the questions I would be unsure of because I don't know myself entirely, but most of them you don't have to know yourself that well. There's really not much competition. Sheesh! Put me on that show! I'll admit to anything for $500,000.00! I can use some extra dough! Now that's a gameshow I am smart enough to go on! Lol.
