Lobbyist/Political Partnership -- Douglas ChickWith all the people I would like to blame for the economy and the ever diminishing dollar, I think the American economic demolition awards should go to the Washington Lobbyist. It is their success in persuading a weak Congress, Senate and White house to pass laws that took away from America and gave greedily to the corporations they represent. This lobbyist/political partnership did more harm to the U.S. than our enemies could only dream.

The lobbyist/political partnership is simple; lobbyist provide the money to elect a politician, and once in office, or re-elected, the politician passes laws to make the corporation more money. And by hedging a “global economy” against a weak and leveraged American debit, we have a pillaged America. Like the fall of the Roman Empire, the roads to the U.S. have been opened by greed and quickly invaded. All this while our soldiers are sent away to fight for freedom of people that would wish us all dead. We have no heroes to protect us from the money changer hordes.

I wonder who the lobbyist want for President?

In a Democracy the Power is in the Hands of the Voters...

A Lobbyists is someone who is employed to "persuade" legislators to vote for legislation that favors the lobbyist's employer... I like how "persuade" is ambiguous, what are the limits on persuasion tactics at Lobbyists disposal (Money, Quid Pro Quo, Favors...)???

The powers that be tell you that your vote counts, then they are persuaded by lobbyists that Big Business has hired to undermine YOU the voter...

Shouldn't Legislators represent the publics interest and not Big Business's Lobbyist's interests? Isn't their job to represent the voters and not pad their pockets with persuasive gifts from lobbyists...

Typical of America to turn Democracy into Big Business...

so..... are ALL lobbyists bad? or are the ones who push for legislation that you want good? if i go and start urging my congressman, senator, legislator, councilman, ect., to pass some legislation that i favor... does that not make me a lobbyist? after all, i am "lobbying" for the passage of that legislation! aren't i?

Yes spacealien "technically" all voters are lobbyists... The BIG difference lies in the "persuasive" tactics employed...

Theoretically Representative Legislators should "represent" the voters...

What kind of "persuasion" do the voters have? Their Votes determine who gets into office. Then when your Representatives get into a position of power, Lobbyists (People hired by Big Business) start persuading your representative to legislate laws that favors the lobbyist's employer. What kind of persuasive tactics do Big Business lobbyists use? Money in gross amounts is obviously illegal (simply because OBVIOUSLY Big Business could buy more than you can...) Yet favors, "gifts", quid pro quo, you scratch my back I will scratch yours, and much more are at their utilization....

The chain basically works like this...

1- You vote... Bob gets into power.

2- Big Business Lobbyists approach Bob with Gifts, Quid pro quo (Something for something; that which a party receives (or is promised) in return for something he does or gives or promises) in return for legislative favors...

Who is Bob going to listen too? You or Richy Rich Cooperation? You already put him into power so he is not worried about attaining the you vote any longer and the Big Rich Powerful Corporation has lots of contacts, money, gifts, and influence...

That is why there has to be LIMITS on the Persuasion tactics that can be utilized. Persuasion tactics should be limited to Reason, Logic, Wisdom, Education and not Favors, Gifts, Quid pro quo...

That is the American Way... Capitalize off of everything
