They need to legalize it.  When are we gonna quit fighting that losing nonsensical battle?

You Know, I think you could be right about that. It is after all usualy less destructive than alcohol.

I think it is fitting that all people who lead the riskier life styles should pay the extra taxes for for the use of a product that promotes and begets the associated problems.

It is kind of like the ones who pay higher car insurance because they have proven themselfs at a higher risk.

Hell we could have the Utah State Prison residents doing all lthe haversting for free. They could touch and see but not taste, How is that for punitive.

Someone once said to me 'marijuana should be legal'. I asked 'in what state, city, town is it unavailable'? The facts from the DEA show that drug availability has not dropped since the drug war began. In other words it has had zero effect on supply. The only effect has been on price. Drug dealers reap big rewards solely because uncle Sam pumps in money to fight it. No ban means no big profits for dealers. No money to fuel gun and gang violence. Legalization would have the dual effect of turning a public payment that induces crime to a public tax. At the same time it would eliminate some of the profits that gangs count on. It would have the third effect of freeing up funds to go after social problems like meth. Which is clearly a hundred fold more problematic that marijuana.

It was El Ninio, a bunch of pot seeds got blown aloft, and into the jet stream and landed there. Luckily it landed in the vicinity of the down winder victims because they wanted to get a cataract treatment that was less expensive than an annual laser eye surgery procedure.

Talking about it on a blog site ain't gonna get it legalized. You have to hire an attorney, and attack it from a civil rights point of view. If someone has a right to intoxicate themselves with alcohol, why don't you have the right to intoxicate yourself with marijuana? If you win your case, you're a hero to pot-heads everywhere.

Actually, it's a lot harder to take the judicial approach as you are leaving the matter up to one person. It's easier to petition it for legislation. California and Oregon are setting the example.

There is a stronger case against large 4x4 trucks, SUV's and POS American cars than there is against marijuana when it comes to the danger to one's health. The leading cause of death in the country is automobile accidents (many are ALCOHOL related). If we trully cared, we'd disallow souped up cars, motorcycles and ridiculous looking 4x4 trucks. Why are we not banning vehicles and investing in mass public transit? Oh no we can get rid of our redneck trucks and our motorcyles... Our distorted self-image of coolness prevents us from giving up our gas hog trucks, sports cars and bikes for the sake of saving lives.

And they act like they have done some wonderful thing destroying one of the best medicines God ever placed here naturally! Even if it was an organized group of smart people so what?

Yeah it was an organized group of smart people that killed 6 million jews. It was organized smart people that flew airliners into the world trade center. It was organized smart people that dropped a nuclear bomb on two cities killing 100's of thousands of innocent lives and permanently injuring more all the way through their family line.

Smart people don't always make smart decisions. If your read the history how it was made illegal, you will realize that it was mostly propaganda... Disinformation. So they weren't so smart, they were liars.

William Randolf Hurst did a great deal of the lying. It was all about the guy who owned the paper mill! And the News paper, the Media.

'It was all about the guy who owned the paper mill!'

Not according to the documentaries I have watched. Without going into too much detail the reasons are as follows.
Cocaine - makes black people go crazy and rape white women and commit crime.
Marijuana - makes Mexican people go crazy and rape white women and commit crime.
Heroin/opium - makes Orientals go crazy and rape white women and commit crime.

This is the language that got the bills passed. Of course there is a Puritan streak about prohibition in general. We are living in the only time in history when drugs have been regulated in this manner.

Hurst printed and made up some of those rumors in his news paper. It was a battle with him of whether or not they were going to produce hemp paper. Hurst owned the paper mill and printed lies in his newspaper backed by government and made some stupid selfish laws. Saying things like marijuana makes black people go crazy and commit crimes. And they outlawed Hemp growing and it's by products. I'm an old man I was kind of there! Skooby

Alcohol will ruin your life but fast! If you let it!

Alcohol is like any other substance, to include FOOD, that can be abused. Anything is bad for you in excess. Moderation is the key.

I love beer. The taste. The buzz. I just partake responsibly. I recommend it to anyone that is responsible.

I advocate the drinking laws in German and much of Europe. I think we are far too uptight here.

tooshortdog you forgot to add... People choose not Alcohol... "Alcohol makes white Americans go crazy rape woman and commit crime" NOT TRUE it may allow their inner demons to come to fruition but alcohol can't put anything there that isn't there to begin with!!! Saying that is like saying that women wearing dresses makes you go crazy and rape women, so is it the dresses fault? NO!!! It's the DEMON!

I love it when people blame everything and the kitchen sink for their actions. We live free to choose but when people choose wrong it's always something else that made me do it! The truth is the choice is always yours to make...

I just want people to finally start taking responsibility for their choices in life... Yea I know it's just a pipe dream, but I think when people stop blaming everything but themselves we will finally be able to face the truth and solve some problems...

working for a state operated liquor department that shall remain nameless yet smoking a J here and there tells me that drinking makes people stupider, Pot makes people hungrier, little dresses make men hornier, and people who try to blame their habits for their actions always makes something easier to tread underfoot.
I think I'm going to burn one right now and have a mixed alcoholic beverage and engage in some pre-marital consensual sex with my post-mormon fiance.

I believe the 1st Amendment, among other rights are violated in the country everyday through unconstitutional legislation and especially in this state. I have made it my ambition to speak out against the oppression many of us face in this country because of those violations. If I only enlighten one mind to the truth... My work is complete.
