John McCain did great tonight in the debate. But every time John mentioned “Joe the Plumber,” some of us in the campaign banged our heads against the wall. If Steve Schmidt had any hair left, I hear he would have been pulling it out tonight. He reportedly screamed at John’s debate prep team tonight (out of earshot of reporters, of course). “You idiots - he’s related to Charles Keating… of the Keating Five scandal!” They thought they had a real live Joe Six-Pack who’s spurned Barack Obama’s tax plan. But what they forgot to do was check on Joe Wurzelbacher’s background.

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

Does any of this make Joe the Plumber a bad guy? Of course not. In fact, after that ill-fated night at the Watergate, he may finally be giving plumbers a good name. But at a debate where John goes full bore on Obama for guilt-by-association with William Ayers (and dodges a bullet by Obama not mentioning Keating Five), the press is going to bring it back front and center by midday tomorrow once they delve deeper into the most popular plumber in America.

WHAT WILL MCCAIN THE INSANE DO NEXT!!!???

P.S.  Possible realtive of Keating, Not a licensed Plumber makes less than 250K per year.  Couldn't buy a 250k business without putting down about 1M and he owes Ohio back taxes.  JOE is a liar!

While I think Palin did a bang up job by doing better than I ever expected, given her lousy press interviews, Biden was clearly the winner.  Despite Fox's polls, most unbiased polls show Biden as the winner.  Here's a few examples:

John McCain is a showman to be sure.  From his ridiculous choice in VP's to his latest political stunt with the "bail out" discussion.   McCain is a joke.  He cares more about his own career than he does the people.

It has become evident that the man knows nothing about the economy of the country, because he doesn't even admit we even have a problem.  Additionally the man doesn't have a clue when it comes to the Iraq conflict.  All these idiots that say "The Surge Worked" aren't amongst the families that are still losing their loved ones.

What I find interesting is that according to the  Department of State, McCain isn't even eligible for the seat.

Remember in November, that we don't need anymore  idiots, like Bush and McCain, destroying the economy.  It's time to bring in the people that actually care about this country and it's people.  OBAMA 2008!

I think McCain is a weasel. I wouldn't vote for him, if I were a Republican either. Actually, I know a few Republicans that'll be voting for Obama in November.

It appears Utah has joined 9 other states in the quest to legislate Christian dogma regardless of it's unconstitutionality.  Here is a quote from the today's article:

"Utah’s Attorney General is joining the fight against California’s gay marriage ruling. Mark Shurtleff, along with nine other states’ attorneys general, sent a letter to the California Supreme Court. It asks them to delay a final ruling on legalizing gay marriage until California voters decide the issue in November. Shurtleff is concerned about so called “tourism marriages.” He and the other attorneys general are worried that residents will travel to California to be legally married. "

I wasn't surprised to hear the news, but never the less, it angers me.  Do these people not understand the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States?   We are not suppose to be making laws that respect an establishment of religion.  We should not allow Christians to oppress the American people with their dogma.  I applaud California.  This issue is not suppose to be voted on.  It is a violation of the 1st Amendment.

If you have about 2 hours to spare, watch this movie. It's may shed a little light on reality for you. I agree with a lot of it. Some of it remains, for me, speculative. Just remember to keep an open mind and carry a little salt with you too

Same-Sex Marriage is a light at the end of the tunnel now, for the rest of the country, thanks to California making the first step.  This is another huge step toward getting religion out of government.

Before I delve into the subject matter the title of this particular article I would like to give you a little background information about my family and myself.  I am a 14 year military veteran from Oregon.  My wife, also a veteran and our offspring are native Oregonians as well.  Though we are military and very patriotic, we are very liberal.  We've been living here for about 22 months now and have noticed things that are alarming.

Now, to the matter mentioned in the title.    The entire time we've lived here in Utah, my children have been attending Davis County Schools, save a 2 to 3 week period my daughter attended a school in Sugar House.  I would like to add that they have, for the most part, stayed out of trouble. Immediately after moving here, we noticed a decline in our children's grades and motivation to attend school.  Both of them expressed the intolerance they met when they were exposed to a predominately mormon student body. After visiting my daughter's schools (Clearfield Junior High and West Point Junior High)  several times regarding her facial piercings, as I trying to protect her religious expression as afforded to her in the 1st Amendment and Davis County School District's dress code. Please see section 4 here.  After repeatedly meeting with school administrators and my daughter missing almost one month of school, we are left to home school them and as their only answer is to deny her the rights afforded to her.

So, if my daughter has the right to express herself religiously according to both the district's policy and the Constitution of the United States of America; How is it that this antiquated, intolerant portion of the policy still exist. This policy does not have a valid reason to be in existence and only serves to instill in our children that difference is wrong.  It promotes intolerance of others culture and religion.  How can this be right or just?  The best excuse, and they tried many, the school could come up with is that it causes a distraction.  Not because they had statistical data, though one administrator actually claimed they did, or prior experience with such claims, but because they presumed it would be so.  Even though I told them, that my children have had facial piercings since they were 8 and 9 years old, attended school with them in 2 other states and it was never a "distraction".

The bottom line is that these people are holding on to their intolerant lesson plan for dear life, stopping at nothing to deny my children their rights and  for what?  So that they can keep order among the mormon families that do not allow piercings?  So that mormon parents don't have to explain to their children, why they can't have piercings too.  It's very hard to not think this when we have LDS Seminary Buildings, many of whom are directly adjacent to the schools, giving the appearance that the building is on school grounds.  Tell me that the church does not have a direct influence over public schools here.  Now, if I am wrong or out of line, please correct me.  I would like to hear something reasonable.  Why is that public schools are willing to deny my daughter her education over something that they have absolutely no right to deny her?

I am an Oregonian Liberal Atheist, living in Utah. I am passionate about my freedom. I am a military veteran that defended it for nearly 14 years of my life. I believe the 1st Amendment, among other rights are violated in the country everyday through unconstitutional legislation and especially in this state. I have made it my ambition to speak out against the oppression many of us face in this country because of those violations. If I only enlighten one mind to the truth... My work is complete.
