so im wondering i havent heard alot of this big earthquake thing i have hear my whole lfe that we are sippose to have some huge one but what are the odds ? where are the worst places to be ?
Basically, geologists know that over the past 6,000 years we've seen a major earthquake along the Salt Lake section of the Wasatch Fault about every 1350 years...and it's been about 1350 years since the last one. It will happen again but, of course, nobody knows when.
It will have an affect on about 80% of the state's population. I did a story on this about a week ago...it's in the "Special Projects" section of this website. If you take precautions, have a plan how to gather with your family, have some food in storage, etc. It will be rough but the vast majority of the population will recover just fine.
