The childs game of playing god

Genetic modified babies....that was a story that I just got through reading on Yahoo. Why is this so important to be on the news, you might ask? Well, it is important enough to be on the news, and the dangers involved with genetic experimentation needs to be addressed more in government, because what we are tampering with is not a toy.

Man, has a need to become better, better looking, faster thinking,  faster running, stronger strength, and stronger oder. But, at what point do we stop, take a look back at science, and the science of genetics, and ask ourselves, is this really worth it?

Modern science has brought us some pretty amazing results with genetics, some for the good of mankind. But, with every advance for medical science and genetics, there is 2 more that have other applications, and those applications are dangerous. When is it alright, for doctors and bio engineers to tamper with the human genome? When has it become a reality, that we as humans could cease to exist, because of some doctor wanting to cure a disease like cancer or AIDS with a genetically engineered virus or set of genes in our body?

When are we going to wake up, and start questioning major drug companies, and major health care institutions, and major medical research institutions, and ask them since when have you become like god, conducting child's play with something you know nothing about?

You know what happens when Flawed, mistake making humans play God right...

There is no way to know ALL of the consequences of the Butterfly effect... Especially for Imperfect Human Beings.

Humans think they are smarter than Nature... Good luck with that, Gonna need it!

Well.. for one... When our Humanity advances to the level of our technology then it will be safe... Watch the will smith movie.. it was about a modified virus to cure cancer... anytime you mess with the genetic make up of a lifeform you open up doors to both advancement and destruction. It can be good and bad.. removal of genes and epigenes that carry things like deformities or illnesses or even the traits of athletic or intelligent but remember the body is only the vessel for the electric signal that controls it all and modification of that vessel doesnt necesarily mean that you modify the soul that "ghost in the Machine"

You are right to fear or at least be consious of the possible problems inherent in gene manipulation... that doesnt mean that we shouldnt do it for the good of mankind but it does mean that we should tread very lightly and isolate any possible contagions developed because of these manipulations. there is always gonna be two sides to every coin.... and its only a 50-50 chance that the bad side could come up. But with ever new ability comes some serious responsibility. Its not that they are trying to play god just to help mankind live longer healtier more fulfilled lives... and if you can develope a weapon on the side and make more cash well.... just be careful of what you develope it may just be used against you.

Dude, do you just sit at home, watch/read the news and randomly pick topics to blog about?

Jesus... One minute I'm reading about coyote attacks, and the next I'm reading about the pit-falls of exploring the human genome??!!

Good god man! relax!! Pick a topic a see it through, or the next thing you know you'll be blogging about church basketball and unfair ref treatment based upon ward location...and that my friend, I won't be able to handle!

I am your biggest enemy of public schools, corrupt politicians, and inept leadership. I do not march with the band, because I march to my own beat. You will either agree or disagree. Either way, I do not care what you think, because I am a free man. I support our troops 100%, fighting and dying in a war we ordered them to fight in. I despise corrupt leaders like Rocky Anderson, and others who abuse their power to persue their own agenda. I am former military. I am proud to have served in the greatest army the world has ever seen, defending the greatest country on the face of the earth, but I am not happy with our current group of leaders, and I demand change. I, am a "American", not what we have now in power..an "AMerikan". What is an "AMerikan", you ask? Its some one who follows the status quo, never expanding their minds, and pushing the norm. Its somone who feels safe with corruption and inept government all around them. Its some one who feels so powerless, that they think they cannot effect change. What is an "American"? An American is someone who will uphold the Constitution Of The United States Of America, against all enemies, forigen and domestic. Its some one who exercises their freedoms, and rights, withoput fear or repression. Thats an "American"!
