The economy has finally hit Utah, at last. But, do people here really know whats in store?

There was a blurb on yahoo about record numbers of utility disconnects. Sounds trivial, doesn't it? Think again.

Its a scary thought when people cannot pay the high prices for home heating oil for winter time use, the rising cost of electricity, and the ever sky rocketing cost of natural gas. Heck, we just dodged a rate increase in good ol' Fantasy Valley, Utah. But, whats really disturbing, is that money is being cut from state and federal funds for heat and utility assistance. And, winter is fast approaching, and soon for some families, it will become a choice of heat, or food. Guess which one wins out.

See, nation wide, economic troubles are not just on Wall Street, with its crisis of greed and corruption. Its here, in Main Street USA, and here, in Fantasy Valley, Utah. And for those, who will be losing their homes, with no place to go, life will become very hard.

People tend to shut their eyes until something directly effects them...

I don't imagine that anything will change until we are ALL effected...

The sad part about learning in this way is by the time the lesson sinks in much of the damage is already done...

Why don't we exercise intellectual foresight? Can we not predict the consequences of our actions? I thought that is what sets Human beings apart from the rest of the animals of the world... Perhaps We are more simple animal minded than we think...

The bill has come for our Greedy, Corrupt, Self Serving ways... Don't open your eyes, you wont like what you see.

I just read a blog by Mcallen... he is commenting on the doomsday paranoia syndrome... I often wonder about his hypothesis,,, Seems all I ever here is panic about this and panic about that.

mysteriousmichealee here is forever going on about corruption and police brtuality and the low life scumbags on wall street,, OK that part I kind of agree with a little but still I wonder if all the so called numbers and money wizards might be a little wrong about all this supposed crisis.

I have heard a number of money wizzards proclaim bull. This is a minor set back in the economy just like happens over and over, again and again. It is healthy house cleaning going on and in a couple years the economy will be strong as ever.

mysteriousmichealle is so negative I think he/she wants to die and wants everone to die with her/he. If I was around somone that negative in my life I would quickly tell them to take a hike. I dont have room for your pessimistc attitudes.

I think many of the people getting all freaked out just have EDIT attitudes. I think people create and manifest what they want to. what ever you are looking for you will find it.

mysteriousmichealee you should start looking for the good in the world,, it is there.

Ok all these economic problems sound realy realy complicated.

From the simplest angle that it has been expained to me is that it everyting is a product of lenders lending money to people they should not be lending to. So we have greedy lenders and ignorant borrowers both of wich are part of the problem.

Now over hear in another area we have unpresidented numbers of people all maxed out on credit cards and in debt and bankrupt.

all this borrowed money and interest that aint getting paid for loans and credit to people who should not have gotten it because they are bankrupt.

Americans just think they can go on a holiday and then file bankruptcy and all will be good... now they are whining about wall street shenanigans. Good greif people get a grip, we are all part of the problem.

What does everone think is going to be the end result of this imploding finacial crisis and everyone points fingers and rants and raves when they are creators of their own problem.

I have to wonder if this is a healthy good thing America is going through

Its a bit more complicated than people running out and filing for bankruptcy, and then going on vaction.

See, if the damage to our banking system was not so great, the current economic crisis hitting us now would be a great learning session for the country on the basis on why we should learn more math, and read way beyond the fine print. But, it doesn't. It goes way past education, and now into hurt and pain.

The current crisis could have been avoided, had just a little more oversight been given to Wall Street companies, instead of taking away oversight.

I dont know it seems like the perons arguning and complaining abut losing freedoms concerning alcohol are the same ones demanding that the government step in and control all the lending practices.... I agree that the gornment should in fact step in set down some better rules and put some people in jail.

The contrast with the other issue [alcohol] is a double standard concerning liberties... It seems to me everyone is always on the band wagon attemping to meet their own imediate agendas instead of wanting what is best for everyone in the long run.

I dont know of one person losing their home that was not in a questionable loan to begin with... So whose fault is it really.

I cant help but wonder if the entire economic world just came to a head on crash with all the scary prdictions that are out their... I just cant help wondering if that is in the long run a bad thing.

Humans require a lot of pain before we will change.

Only time will tell the out come of the financial melt down. But, in the mean time, the amount of human suffering, will be almost biblical in its scope and scale.

I think it is wrong and and pehaps this statement of your borders on evil.
For you to predict such things in such negative manner along with other things you say seems quite discernong of your personality.

You comne across like a very negative hostile pesron. I have invited you on numerous occasions to share why you have such antisocial ugly hostile attitudes.

you refuse to respond directly to my questions... this leads me to believe that you are extremely dishonest on an intilectual level.

Do you have a job, If so do you share and propagate your insanity in the work place? how does it go over with normal healthy functining people who try to live with an attitude of gratitude for all the good things in life...

You are a depressing person... I cant help but wonder where you hang out and who your freinds are... you will not divulge anything of personal nature about yourself because you would rather keep it a secret prefering to pull those around you down to your level of sadness.

I choose to believe that human beings are resilant God like creatures... Now matter how bad it gets we will succed and conquer evil only to become stronger and more advanced society. History proves this.

History also proves quite the opposite for people who propogate evil sinister messages like yours.

In a brave new world, we need to question all motives, good or bad. Not because questioning motives is a fad, but because as the old saying goes, the highway to Mephistopheles lair is always paved with good intentions. We need to fight evil in all of its forms. From the drug dealer down the street, to those in power, and to those who serve in our churches. We need to start being aware of what is happening in our own back yard, because, now is the time. I am against public education. Not because education is a bad thing, but because we do not educate our kids, we indoctrinate them. I am against law enforcement, and the penal system. Not because I am a fan of criminals, but because of the criminals behind the badge, behind the judges robe, and behind the offices we elect them to. I am for the underdog, because it is he who is usually the victor. I always help those in need, and also help those who are not. I am for those who want to help make humanity better. Not worse. I am for those who sacrifice a whole life to protect us from those who wish to destroy us. You will either agree or disagree. My posts are my opinions only. It is up to you, the reader to think about the issues being written about, form your own opinion, and decide what you want to believe. Welcome to a brave new world.
