My boyfriend and I watch Fox 13 News at Nine every evening. We don't watch it for any sort of journalistic value. We watch it for laughs.
To be fair, it's not entirely your fault. Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch, billionaire tyrant/media mogul (that he owns MySpace.com never ceases to amuse me).
Your recent story on Spanish-speakers in Utah--and many of the extremely bigoted viewer comments that you aired tonight--was blatantly racist. English, contrary to popular belief, is not an easy language to learn. Romance languages (they aren't romantic. They're Romance. As in, derived from Latin.) have rules and guidelines that English either lacks or completely ignores. Even English's closest relative, German, is infinitely more structured. I find it extremely ironic that the defenders of the great English language don't seem to realize that it is a hodgepodge of at least four different languages--Celtic, German, French, and Latin. Even our regular verbs are irregular ("go," "going," "gone," "went").
Oddly enough, this was one of the most news-worthy features you've done in weeks. Believe me. I've been keeping track.
Tonight's feature on DOG TRAINING, of all things, was less inane than others. I still find it extremely insulting that your news editors seem to think that The Dog Whisperer is more important than flooding in Mexico, suicide attacks in Afghanistan, riots in French and Venezuelan Universities, and a devastating school shooting in Finland--all of which were shoved into "Your World in a Minute."
Way to fail.

What's there to say? I'm a Westminster College freshman, and a transplanted California Democrat. I'm pretty opinionated, and not afraid to let those opinions be heard. Oh, and one of my biggest pet peeves is bad grammar. Which is why I'm here in the first place, since MyFoxUtah.com is rife with dropped apostrophes, misused (or overused commas), and incorrect spelling. Be forewarned. There's nothing worse than a bored English major.
