So Utah just changed it's liquor laws. I believe they now allowed about .25 ounces more in a mixed drink. However, they have changed te law of the side-car.  For those who don't know, a sidecar is a shot of the liguor thats in your drink, along with your drink, only on the side(in addition to the shot in your drink). Recently Utah changed it's laws, and you can still get a sidecar, but it CAN'T be the same thing that you put in your drink. Bye Bye doubles. I love the fact the people we elect spent days, if not weeks on things like .25 ounce. I help run a small business that pre-stocks groceries and wine/beer and such to tourists before they arrive in town. I love that our representatives take weeks to decide on .25 ounces, which is nothing, but seriously, when is Utah going to either allow people to buy wine in a grocery store?.. like 48 other states, or when are they going to let people into liquor stores on sunday. There have been countless people I have met in my work that really dislike the liquor/wine laws, most from other countries or the east coast. If we want to keep our tourist industry strong, we should at least allow wine to be sold n grovery stores(like very other state) or allow liquor stores open on sunday. If you've read the USA today or NY times articles about vacation in utah, the first thing they talk about are the "wierd Liquor laws"

since our economy is largely based on tourism, shouldn't we relax these laws and help tourism?

They overcharge for an ounce of liquor...

Now they will over-overcharge you for the little squeeze extra...

Why can't legislators attempt to solve REAL issues instead of tackling issues that don't really matter?

You know Issues like: Crime, Poverty, Etc...

Well, why would someone attempt to solve a HARD problem when solving a lame issue is easier and you get paid the same whether you solve a difficult issue of a simple issue?

Akiame: There is no money to be made by the state or by business in solving real problems, who ever heard of a war against homelesness, or a war on poverty. there is no $$$$, Deniro, or mulah, to be made in solving societys problems, yeh it maybe simple to solve but how can the government bilk taxpayers like you and me out of tens of millions of dollars with simple soulutions.

They only want the kind tourists that are coming to visit the temple and then have a little bite to eat at Village Inn afterwards.

I recently read that Utah's economy is "recession proof". This may be true, but why?

Because it already sucks! I had to leave the state to find a decent job. I‘m college educated and had some experience in the field I was applying for, and trust me, I wasn’t being picky! Unless you want to work at a call center, Wal-mart, or are lucky enough to know someone to get you in somewhere, you’re screwed.

Pretty soon we’ll just be paying for alcohol flavoring. I’m sure they already have the BYU chemistry department working on it!

pissedoff702 You hit that Nail right on the Head!!!

Your the Prize winner for the Day!!!

Money, Money, Money... I think that The Green Eyed Monster is the Root of many of the issues that are slowly eroding the foundation of this country. The real question is, now what direction are we going to embrace? Will we continue down this destructive path of Greed or will we turn towards the light of the greater good for all?

The Choice is up to us...
